Shared Housing - What You Need To Know
Written by: Ron Reed

If you are sharing a house or sharing a flat, or renting out a room, (or thinking about it) - there are things you should know about. The Tenants Union of NSW has published some great resources on their website, including information about:

  • the legal status of people in shared housing
  • when you need to change occupants
  • rent receipts
  • bond money
  • leaving a shared house or shared flat
  • paying bills
  • resolving disputes

They have also published some helpful sample letters and a sample share housing agreement which you can download and adapt to your circumstances.
