Aveo's communities stretch from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to Tasmania, with coastal locations on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Newcastle. More than 10,000 residents call them home. Some communities focus on independent living, while others add assisted living apartments on the same site. Knowing which kind of community you are looking at helps you judge how well it will suit you now and in the years ahead.

Residents hold a lease or licence, and Aveo looks after the grounds, community gardens and shared facilities. That leaves you more time for friends, family and travel. Amenities and activities vary by community, so it is worth asking what is offered at the specific village you are considering and how it fits the way you like to spend your days.

Aveo is a foundation member of the Retirement Living Code of Conduct, the retirement living industry's own voluntary code setting standards for how operators treat residents. A code of this kind is a useful reference point when you compare operators, and you can ask any village how it applies in practice. The Living Company has owned Aveo since June 2025, and Brookfield owned it before that.

Care & lifestyle services

Aveo helps you stay independent in your own home for longer. Support can be added as your needs change, from a 24/7 emergency call system and visiting health and wellbeing professionals to allied health partnerships, and Aveo is an approved home care provider, so it can deliver help itself or arrange it through government-subsidised programs or on a fee-for-service basis.

Assisted living and apartments with services, which include meals and cleaning, are at some communities, and some villages sit alongside an aged care service nearby. It is worth asking at each community you shortlist, and asking early, so you know what support could be available if your needs change.

Most communities offer a mix of shared facilities, such as swimming pools, bowling greens, gyms and movie theatres. Social activities and events bring neighbours together, and the mix varies by community. When you inspect a village, look at the shared spaces and consider which of them you would actually use week to week.
