About BaptistCare
Today BaptistCare operates 35 retirement villages across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. Homes come as villas, units and apartments. Some communities focus on independent living, while others sit alongside an aged care home on the same site.
Depending on the community, the agreement may be a loan licence, a lease for life or a rental agreement. BaptistCare looks after building repairs and the communal grounds, so your time is your own. Maintenance carries on even when you head away for an extended period. Villages are well maintained and have gated security. Amenities and activities vary by community, so it is worth checking what a particular village offers rather than assuming every location is the same. Because the type of agreement can differ, reading the contract carefully and asking questions before you sign is a sensible step for any downsizer.
BaptistCare is a signatory to the Retirement Living Code of Conduct, the industry's own voluntary code setting standards for how operators treat residents. That means BaptistCare has committed to those standards in how it deals with you. For someone downsizing, a published code is a useful reference point when you compare one operator with another and decide what to ask. It is a not-for-profit, and since March 2025 it has operated as one national organisation after three organisations united.
Costs & fees
For a current price, call BaptistCare directly on 1300 275 227 or enquire through the listing for the community you're interested in. Because pricing is not set out on this page, asking for the figures in writing gives you something concrete to compare. When you call or enquire, it is worth asking what you pay upfront, what you pay on an ongoing basis and what happens to those costs when you eventually leave.
It also helps to think about your own budget before you call. Work out what you expect to receive from selling your current home, what you want to keep in reserve and how the costs of a village compare with what you spend now. That way you can judge an offer against your own circumstances rather than in isolation.
Care & lifestyle services
You can live independently in your own home and add support as your needs change. BaptistCare delivers government-subsidised home care as an approved provider across Australia, available where you live if and when you need it. A push-button emergency call connection adds an extra safety measure. Thinking through how your needs might change over the coming years makes it easier to judge which services matter most to you.
Residential aged care is available on site at some communities, so care can be close by if your needs grow. It is worth asking at each community you consider. Speaking with the village team and, if you can, visiting in person will show you how care and independent living sit together at that site.
Shared facilities include cafes, bowling greens, swimming pools and libraries, and social clubs bring neighbours together. Durham Green Village has a hair and beauty salon. The mix varies by community. Ask to see the facilities at the village you are considering, and think about whether you would use them regularly.
