The smoke-filled sky didn’t stop the residents and guests of Sydney's St Brigid’s Green seniors community from attending Opera on the Green in early December.
Local seniors sat down to enjoy a spectacular evening at the annual black-tie event, hosted on the Village Green of Greengate’s Maroubra village.
Over 300 guests enjoyed the beautiful voices of Gaetano Bonfante and the Michaela Leisk.
Randwick Mayor Danny Said, was amongst the audience seated on the green, as well as Mr Michael Daley MP and other local council members.
Some retirement and aged care residents chose to enjoy the show from their exclusive "box seats", also known as their balconies.
Village Manager of St Brigid’s Green, Jesse Morgan, said “I feel very privileged to have been a part of such a well-received event that brings joy, not only to our residents, but to many from the Maroubra community. It was beautiful to see everyone come together for a memorable experience and to start the holidays on a high note.”
Of course, the ash falling from the sky didn’t go unnoticed, with the village selling raffle tickets at the door to raise money to help with the bushfires. Both guests and the village team thoroughly enjoyed the opera, with many making the most of the fun opportunity to partake in a glamorous social event from home.
St Brigid's Green has an Open House every Monday from 10 am-12 pm, visitors are welcome to stop by and take a look at the available retirement apartments, aged care suites, and surrounding community areas.
