A smoking ceremony has marked the start of construction on the second stage of Aveo’s master planned Bella Vista Haven retirement living community on Darug Land in Greater Sydney’s Hills Shire.
The ceremony was conducted today by Uncle Graham Davis King, an internationally celebrated Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa artist, author, dancer and board member on the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC).
Aveo Chief Executive Officer Tony Randello said it was an honour to attend the ceremony and pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land.
“Aveo is dedicated to encouraging greater involvement of First Nations Australians in our teams, communities, and business networks. These commitments are guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan, which launched late last year,” Mr Randello said.
“We acknowledge the deep connections to lands and waters held by First Nations People and show our appreciation to these lands and waters through our reconciliation initiatives and also through our focus on environmental sustainability across all areas of our business, including development.’’
Experienced seniors living construction group, Growthbuilt, has been appointed to deliver Bella Vista Haven’s second multi-storey residential building, comprising 83 stylish apartments.
As part of the upcoming stage, Aveo is also fast-tracking the development of an indoor pool complex, library and cinema, enhancing the already impressive community facilities offered at Bella Vista Haven.
Mr Randello said Aveo was responding to increasing the demand for high quality retirement living options in the Greater Sydney region for the next generation of retirees.
“Over the next decade, the retirement living sector has a significant opportunity for growth as we strive to fulfill the elevated standards of the Baby Boomer generation,’’ he said.
“Aveo is committed to delivering connected and vibrant communities where older Australians can thrive, and I am delighted to see that commitment continue for the next stage of development at Bella Vista Haven.’’
Aveo opened the first stage in 2018, delivering an award-winning lakefront community of 64 apartments, alongside five-star facilities including a waterfront restaurant and bar, function room, gymnasium, outdoor gym and yoga lawn, indoor bowls, billiards, library and salon.
The next residential building is due for completion in August 2025, with the basement, car parking and podium level already completed in the first stage.
Bella Vista is 33km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, with easy access to the Westlink M7 and A2 Motorway, and within the $3 billion Norwest smart city project, providing residents with convenient access to a hospital and a range of medical facilities, metro rail and major retail and leisure activities.
