One of Australia’s largest residential developers, AVID Property Group (AVID), has continued a year of significant milestones with ceremonial sod turn events in Logan Reserve and Lilywood, officially commencing construction on two new over 50s communities as part of the developer’s growing portfolio.
Vantage Logan Reserve and Vantage Lilywood, which are now officially under construction, will be a part of the developer’s Vantage by AVID land lease portfolio, which has grown to include nine other operational communities in Queensland and Victoria, and five further communities in planning.
AVID General Manager Queensland and Land Lease Communities Anthony Demiris said the commencement of the two new communities marked an exciting opportunity for over 50s buyers looking to start a new chapter in the highly desirable South East Queensland region.
“We are proud to be officially underway with our two newest Vantage communities, which will join already significant and growing portfolio of boutique over 50’s neighbourhoods offering resort style living with modern and flexible housing solutions to the growing over 50s buyers’ market in Australia,” Mr Demiris said.
“With over 2,500 residents already calling a Vantage community home, we know these neighbourhoods grow so quickly into hubs of community connectivity and comradery for residents sharing in their experiences of a new stage of life.”
Logan City Council Mayor Jon Raven said he welcomed the official sod turn for Vantage Logan Reserve.
“The strength of the Logan community is its diversity, not only culturally but also in the ages of its residents,” Mayor Raven said.
“This development will provide greater choice for over 50’s by creating a vibrant community where they can connect, thrive and enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle.
“The sod turning is the first of many exciting project milestones for Vantage Logan Reserve and I look forward to its contribution to the residential choices for over 50’s Logan residents.”
Following the sod turn at Vantage Logan Reserve on Wednesday 29 October, AVID gathered for a sod turn at Vantage Lilywood on Friday 7 November, with guests including City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery and Minister for the Environment and Tourism of Queensland Andrew Powell.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the sod turn was another milestone in the story of Waraba.
“With our population projected to reach one million people in the next 30 years, and more than 240 new residents moving here every week, City of Moreton Bay is entering an exciting era of growth and transformation,” he said.
“Waraba will play an important role in our City’s future by becoming a dynamic urban hub that will eventually accommodate some 70,000 residents.
“Ensuring greater housing diversity gives our residents access to homes that suit their needs across every stage of life, and this new development provides yet another choice at Waraba.”
With more than a third (35.4 per cent) of Queensland’s population aged 50 and over*, Vantage Lilywood and Vantage Logan Reserve will respectively inject 296 and 376 new homes purpose built for this growing age demographic into the South East Queensland market.
Each house in the two new communities will be designed and delivered by AVID’s award-winning building arm, Villaworld Homes by AVID, who were recently named the Best Display Home in its category at the 2025 Master Builders Queensland Wide Bay Burnett Housing and Construction Awards.
AVID General Manager Housing Peter Wood said Villaworld Homes was excited to extend its offering to the new cohort of buyers in both Moreton Bay and Logan.
“We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response to our home designs at Vantage Hervey Bay, and we couldn’t be more excited to ensure residents in Vantage’s new communities feel right at home in spaces thoughtfully designed to meet their evolving needs.” Mr Wood said.
