Downsizers will soon have the opportunity to live above a new bowling club in a 55-apartment seniors housing complex in Sydney’s prestigious eastern suburbs.
Real estate firm JLL is seeking developers for the approved Waverley Bowling Club project.
The development approval provides for four separate seniors living buildings, comprising a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. It is expected to be completed by 2023.
Incorporated in the approval is the development of a new bowling club comprising two championship bowling greens and a small clubhouse.
“The iconic Waverley Bowling Club that is set to be redeveloped under the existing development approval allows the purchaser to commence construction immediately to deliver a highly desirable product into the tightly held eastern suburbs market, whilst also offering a brand new bowling club to the community,” JLL’s Senior Director of Metropolitan Sales and Investments Simon Quinn said.
Located 2.6 kilometres from the world-famous Bondi Beach and walking distance to Tamarama Beach and Bondi Junction, the site is perched on the crest of one of Sydney’s eastern suburbs highest points, with the proposed development set to offer expansive view corridors.
The site is owned by the Easts Group.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer Joe Kelly said: “We are delighted to be bringing such a unique development opportunity to market in the Eastern Suburbs. The offering supports the growing demand for seniors living in the area, whilst also allowing our group to reinstate a modernised bowling club that caters to our members, bowlers and local residents.”
The Waverley Bowling Club President, Mr Patrick Fitzsimons said: “We have worked closely with the Easts Group and community representatives to achieve the progress so far, and look forward to working alongside the Easts Group and the developers further to realise the new club, which will celebrate its 130th birthday on the new premises in 2023.”
Expressions-of-Interest for the development at 163 Birrell Street, Waverley close on Thursday 29th October 2020.
