Sydney’s most luxurious new retirement living project has opened its doors, with only a few apartments left for sale and stunning facilities including a boutique cinema, communal wine cellar and seniors’ gym ready for use.
Rose by Moran boasts a collection of 33 two and three-bedroom newly-built apartments set behind a Federation-era heritage-listed mansion and among private leafy gardens.

Downsizing.com.au enjoyed a tour of the completed Rose by Moran project, located at Wahroonga at Sydney’s north shore.
First-class resident facilities
Rose by Moran includes a number of communal facilities you are unlikely to find at other retirement villages.
For instance, the project’s residents will always be able to enjoy a good drop, thanks to the addition of a communal, temperature-controlled wine cellar. This cellar includes a secure area for each participating resident’s wine, along with a handy central tasting area.
One potential location for enjoying this wine includes the nearby boutique cinema, which includes ten comfy, oversized seats.

When it comes time for activity, residents can splash around in the indoor pool or work out at the gym using imported exercise equipment which has been specifically designed for seniors.
For residents with a green thumb, or who just like to get outdoors, a communal rose and vegetable garden has now also been established.

After all this activity, Rose by Moran residents can relax or enjoy other therapeutic benefits from an on-site infra-red sauna.
Within the mansion, residents can access a spacious dining and gathering area, known as the club room, alongside a communal kitchen which can be used by caterers or residents. It’s the perfect spot for resident events and celebratory group dinners.

In the mansion, you’ll also find a health consulting room, hair salon and a piano room and library for relaxing or chatting.
Former long-term Turramurra locals Erwin and Susie Elstermann were among the first residents to have moved into Rose by Moran.
Erwin is still working (full-time) in the banking sector, while Susie has retired.
“We were looking to downsize given the kids had left home some years earlier,” Erwin said. “It’s a decision we didn’t want to leave too late in our lives.”
Rose by Moran offered high quality independent apartment style living with exceptional community facilities and for us it was a perfect fit.
“This was our opportunity to ‘uncomplicate' our lives from the ongoing maintenance with having a big house with large gardens and freeing up time to enjoy ourselves as we get older.”
Erwin and Susie have moved into a three-bedroom apartment, which was originally intended to be two two-bedroom apartments. Because the Elstermanns bought off-the-plan, they were able to reconfigure the apartment’s floor plan.
Already the couple have begun to meet and form friendships with other residents and use the communal facilities.
“The communal facilities are all fantastic and visitors to the Rose by Moran are always surprised by what’s available,” Erwin said.
For us we’re probably going to enjoy and use the gym, pool, sauna and cinema most, it’s just great having all of these in-house.
“We have met most of the residents that have moved in so far.
“They’re all very nice with interesting backgrounds and life experiences, with close friendships already forming.”
Last chance to move in
A small number of two and three bedroom apartments, with a range of internal and external space configurations are still available at Rose by Moran.
Once these apartments are sold, it is expected that Rose by Moran apartment vacancies will be quite limited in coming years.
Each of the apartments have been meticulously designed to offer contemporary, fresh and highly functional spaces with ample storage and a considered layout.
Spacious and full of natural light, the generous living and dining areas spill out onto expansive outdoor living balconies or terraces that overlook the green, leafy surrounds and provide the perfect entertaining areas.

The apartments feature premium fixtures and finishings, such as Quantum Quartz bench tops and splash backs, integrated Miele appliances and engineered oak/100% wool flooring.
They also have in-built fireplaces, ducted air conditioning and emergency call buttons.
