Coffee beans in hand and sweet treats at their disposal, Bolton Clarke Carrington residents now have their own café on their doorstep.
The home’s Café 16 coffee cart was opened in August and has since become a popular spot for residents, families and team members from the residential care home and retirement village.
The project has been a long time coming but when residents heard about the opportunity they were thrilled to jump onboard.
“I come regularly to see my wife Doreen who lives here in the home, and I saw the cart sitting there so asked a few more questions,” Bertram Salhani said.
“I thought it was such a good idea and so I asked if I could buy everyone coffee for the grand opening!
“I appreciate how the team treat my wife because they make everyone feel loved and although it can be difficult sometimes, they still manage to make everyone feel special.
“So I wanted to do my part to help because I think the coffee cart gives everyone the opportunity to taste going out and having a good coffee without having to leave.
“We can just walk out here, sit and enjoy this lovely outdoor café.”
The name Café 16 was inspired by the home’s address number 16 Blairmount Street in Parkinson and was decided by residents and team members.
The cart is open and serving coffee for Carrington and the local community every Wednesday to Sunday.
