A statement backed by science! The CSIRO, Australia’s peak scientific body, has assessed Coffs Harbour as having the most liveable climate in the country. The city is 390 kilometres south of Brisbane and shares its mellow sub-tropical climate with an average high of 19 degrees in winter and around 26 degrees in summer. The warmest month is January with an average of 23 degrees; coolest is generally July and the average is 13 degrees.
A stunning coastline and beautiful hinterland
To the east of the city, the ocean offers excellent fishing and all sorts of boating opportunities and aqua activities. Dolphins are frequently seen off the coast and thousands of humpback whales migrate along here between May and November. Mothers and calves rest here on their journey to the Antarctic.
To the west of the city, 84,000 hectares of stunning landscape has been World Heritage-listed. There are 13 national parks and several nature reserves and the area is known for its waterfalls, sub-tropical rainforest and unspoiled scenery. Eco-tourism continues to be developed.

Bowls is played in some pretty locations, Diggers Cricket Club welcomes players of all ages, masters swimming is located at the Coffs Aquatic Centre and the city recently had 16 players in the NSW Australian Hockey Masters Championship.
Restaurants are found on the foreshore around the jetty area and sprinkled throughout the rest of the city.
Markets and festivals are held regularly and there is a lot of local participation in the arts and in galleries.
